Negative Mitzvah 101

28 Sivan, 5784 - July 4, 202430 Sivan, 5784 - July 6, 2024

Negative Mitzvah 101: Not to slaughter a female animal and her offspring on the same day.
Leviticus 22:28 "You shall not slaughter it and its young on the same day

HaShem created animals and intended that we use some of them for food or as sacrifices.

Still, there are basic rules that apply to their slaughter.

Cruelty must always be avoided.

This Negative Mitzvah forbids us to slaughter a mother animal and her child on the same day.

There is always hope. Even when you mess up you have not wrestled control from Him. After all the dust has settled, where you are and how you are is exactly as He had planned at the outset of creation. And so, there is always hope.
